Hi I am glad you wrote this as well. I am new to homeschooling and my son will be a 9th grader. Question does the elective have to have the same ours as the required courses if not how many? What do we do make up our own elective do I need to list it on my list of courses I turn in to the school should I or not? Thanks JN In NY state.

Hi Jackie, all courses are given credit in the same manor. But if you have a course that you don’t believe will be enough for a full credit, you can certainly do 1/2 credit courses. When I do my IHIP I list my elective courses with the word elective next to it. Like this… Elective – Psychology (1 Unit = 6,480 minutes) then I include a brief description of the course below that title.
