The Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ August 24th, 2010
FOR TODAY:
August 24th, 2010…
Outside my window…the sun is shining. The air is a little cooler and a little less humid than it has been. It was nice to have our window open last night to welcome the cool evening breeze in.
I am thinking…that my nephew has his road test today. He already has his car so hopefully he will pass the test.
I am thankful for…the fact that I am able to clear out my closet of so many clothes. I have lost 32 lbs so far and so much of my clothing (specifically pants) are too large now. Even though I can’t afford to replace my whole wardrobe, loosing weight is a great reason to have to clear out clothes.
From the learning rooms…We will be back in full swing in 2 weeks. The kids are on a light schedule right now and have been for about 2 weeks. We are looking forward to some new adventures in history and science this year.
From the kitchen…With freezers back in order for the moment, our supply of food is growing. The kids are looking forward to crescent dogs for dinner tonight.
I am creating…a plan for my blog. Joey and I have been talking about new themes, maybe one with drop down menus so I can start adding homeschool related resources and information. I am not exactly sure of the whole plan, but I know I want to make some changes and expand my blog some more over the coming months.
I am going…to have to take 4 garbage bags of clothes to the Salvation Army that I have outgrown. My closet was getting a little overrun anyways. I am happy to have a little breathing room in there.
I am reading…The Egg and I by Betty MacDonald. Truth be told, I have not gotten more than a couple of pages in. We sat down as a family on Sunday and watched the movie that was based on the book. It was done in 1947 and was the movie that started the Ma and Pa Kettle series of movies into being made. Ma and Pa Kettle were the “hillbillie” neighbors in The Egg and I, and they were so popular that they received the chance to do their own movies. We plan on watching one of them with our children for the next movie night we have.
I am hearing…the sound of tape ripping off the dispenser as Jayden attempts to fix a piece of paper he tore out of his Book Summary Notebook.
One quote for the week…
All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts. -Shakespeare from As You Like It
A few plans for the rest of the week: multiple parent meetings for the kids sports, story time with Mr. Mike, hanging with Shana and Dave, Coffaro’s house on Friday night for adult time
Here is the picture for thought I am sharing…

Losing 32 lbs. is a fantastic accomplishment!!!! I have every confidence not only that you will lose more, but will keep it off.
The picture you posted reminds me of when I was a little girl and my parents lived in a small farm house in Medina. Many hours of delight were spent on the swing. One thought that just popped into my mind: Wouldn’t it be such an incredible blessing if while you were a child you could truly appreciate the amount of playtime and the lack of responsibilities while being young?

Hello, my first visit here and I found so much to like about it….I used to watch the Ma & Pa Kettle movies and would love to do so again..I didn’t know it was based on a book…Crescent Dogs? is that where you wrap a piece of wiener in a crescent roll and bake? We eat those but we put cheese in them too….Oh, and I love your pondered words…I have always liked the song by Elvis which included a version of that: Twelfth of Never…Congratulations on losing all that weight…I am so in need of some motivation and encouragement so I might pare down about 25 pounds…I hope you have a great week.

Are my kids always half dressed?!?! Nevermind. Don’t answer that! Love having a glimpse into your head on more than just Wednesdays! I look forward to your SWD entries…thanks for sharing! Also, CONGRATULATIONS on the weight loss. I know I see you regularly (thank God!) and say this often, but you really do look fabulous! I look forward to following in your footsteps (someday!) and having to clean out my closet because close don’t fit me because of the weight I’ve LOST and not GAINED (like I’m doing now!) Ugh! You’re my inspiration!!!
