365 Project
As I was sitting around the other night trying to catch up on some of my blog reading, I stumbled upon something that caught my attention. Over at Weird Unsocialized Homeshcoolers, Kris posted about starting a new project for the year called 365 Project. She was talking about how she had received a new fancy camera this year, but had let the photo taking fall by the wayside and thought this project might help motivate her. The twist for her was this:
“Except, being the weird, unsocialized homeschool mom that I am, I’m not actually going to sign up for the project officially. I’ll just do it on my own and post my photos here.”
This got me thinking that something like this might be a great thing for me to give a whirl here in the coming year of 2011. So I of course popped on to Facebook to propose the idea to my fellow photographer in crime, Shana. This is how the conversation went:
Heidi: Was thinking of joining 365 Project. Have you heard of it? I stumbled across it and thought the New Year might be the perfect time for me to give it a whirl and see what I can produce in 365 days! Then maybe I will make my own book like someone posted about from this website…. http://www.blurb.com
Shana: This is what I attempted with my photo-a-day blog but as you know, it was hard to keep up on…this seems more artistic and challenging, though…I, of course, love a challenge 🙂
Heidi: Yes, I would struggle with feeling like my photos don’t match up. I know you did have a hard time keeping up the the photo-a-day thing. Seeing as I have this new found interest in photography, since our Photoshop Class, I thought I might give this one a whirl this year.
Shana: I’m with you! I was hoping to start my photo-a-day blog back up 1/1/11 anyway…now that Joey has me all set up photo-wise, I shouldn’t have a problem posting something if I keep it simple 🙂 Not sure how artistic or creative I’ll be, but I’m totally game! Let’s do it!!
Heidi: I think if we join the project itself we upload there (not 100% sure how it works seeing as I discovered it about 5 seconds before wanting to share it with you!). I wasn’t sure if I would do that (posting there), and post on my blog. It won’t take much to post in either or both places once I have the photo taken, uploaded and Photoshopped. That is where the real work is!
Shana: We could do our own 365 project, there wouldn’t be as much feedback/views, but the competition wouldn’t be as stiff and we could still enjoy it our own way 🙂 Less pressure?
So as 2010 comes to a close and 2011 is just beginning, join us, or just follow us, on this photography journey we will attempt to take. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
