August 3in30 Goals & Week 1
Last week I posted my July Week 4 with some hints to my goals for this month. Now, here are my goals and my August Week 1 progress all rolled in together! This month my main focus is getting prepared to start our “official” school year on September 12th. During the summer we go into “light” mode. This summer we are doing some math, map drawing, and the free summer school from The Simple Homeschool each week. Jayden is also doing some cursive each week to keep up his writing skills.
August Progress:
Goal One: Extension from July – “Tone”
We are all working on this goal. I have been working very hard to keep my own tone of voice in check with the kids. Just because they frustrate me does not give me the right to take a nasty tone with them. I know that I feel better about myself, and our days when we have all been better about speaking kindly and being considerate of each other. It can be tough when you spend so much time together.
Goal Two: If it takes less than 1 minute, do it NOW!
This has yet to get off the ground this month. I am so busy working on goal number 3 that I have not really started this one. I hope to give it a whirl with myself and the kids in the next week, but truth be told, I may have to put this one off until next month.
Goal Three: Prepare for 2011/2012 school year
This one is HUGE and all consuming for me this month. I have decided to try a Planning/Filing/Crate System which means planning all 36 weeks in advance this year. My hope is that even though it means a TON of work this month, that it will be so much less work each week during our school year. I have not yet bought the rest of the curriculum because we are waiting on some money to do so. Instead I have been hard at work on making lesson plans in Homeschool Tracker Plus for the curriculum we already have. I have finished Jayden’s spelling, Chloe’s Writing Strands, and I am halfway through Jayden’s Singapore Math. After his math I am going to move on to First Language Lessons, and then on to spacing out our two unit studies for history (Africa & Explorers).

Those are good goals! I’ve worked hard to “tone” down my tone – but my girls really do respond so well!! Good luck this week!

I love the 2nd goal – it is so true. Hope you can get to it this week. I’m also going homeschool crazy this month! I think a lot of moms are so you’re not alone : ) Have a good week.

I can definitely see how #3 would take up lots of time! I can also see how it could be a huge benefit for the rest of the year.
I really like your list! The first one is something that I struggle with, and consequently, so do my girls. I’m looking forward to hearing more about your progress on this one!

LOVE your goals for the month!!! It is easy sometimes…being around the children all day to forget our ‘tone’….something I have struggled with…and am reminding myself of, too!

I like Goal #2. I have been doing the same thing. If I see that it needs done – JUST DO IT! 🙂
Great goals!

Hey girl! Great goals. I totally hear ya on #1 I also have trouble with that too! #2 great idea I may have to implement that! #3 wow all 36 weeks planned at once awesome! Maybe one day I will be that good. We are using a workbox system (filing system) but I will only be planning 1 wk in advance. I am finding that with an eclectic curriculum it seems a little harder to plan things out. Because I have multiple resources we are using!
