DIY Valentine: Paper Heart Books
Every year I try to find a new DIY Valentine for us to create. What I love about these DIY Valentine Paper Heart Books is how flexible they are to adjust the colors and the ability to make them longer or shorter based on what message you want to create.
DIY Valentine: Paper Heart Book
These DIY Valentine Paper Heart Books make great personalized Valentines. You can decorate them, and write special messages for each person you give them to.
Supplies:
- colorful paper
- scissors
- markers
- ribbon (or strips of paper)
- stickers (optional)
- glue (Elmer’s or stick)
Directions:
- Take 4 pieces of colored paper – each a different color. {Note: You can really choose any amount you want to make these as long or as short as you desire. Any less than 3 doesn’t really spread out nicely though.} Fold in half and then cut them. You will be using one half of the papers you cut to create one heart. The other half can be used to make another one!
- After cutting the papers in half, fold the half sheets in half. The position the folded side to the left and draw two half hearts, with the inside smaller heart not quite going all the way to the fold on the top.
- Cut out the top half heart. Then cut along the smaller inside heart line, stopping just before you get to the fold.
- Spread the folded hearts open and lay the small inside hearts flat. Make small folds on each side near the center crease so they can open and close easily.
- Using small cut strips of paper, or lengths of ribbon, begin wrapping around the outer big hearts as if you are binding them together. Begin at the bottom of one siade and continue wrapping until you reach the end on the other side. Use a little glue on the back side to glue the end down.
- Using a small piece of strip paper or ribbon, make a loop and glue it to the back to create a hanging hook.
- Once the glue is dry your child can add their special messages, drawings, stickers, embellishments, etc.

I like them because they are sort of a template for something that your imagination can turn into something unique!
