Operation Chirstmas Child
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is an initiative of Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian relief and development charity working amongst communities in need in 18 countries across Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Operation Christmas Child is a project that Chloe looks forward to each year. I remember last year she was bummed because we missed the deadline for it. This year we were more prepared. I found an article in our local newspaper about it, including the details of where and when we could drop off the boxes. That article is posted on our bulletin board in the kitchen. Chloe was eager to get to the store and fill 2 shoe boxes this year; one for a boy and one for a girl. Each one to contain things like pencils, crayons, notepads, hard candy, a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and washcloths, and small gender appropriate toys. Chloe spends her own money to fill the boxes and I pay the shipping charge for each one.
This has been a fantastic opportunity for Chloe to think about other children and give some of the wealth she has to those that are less fortunate. She has a giving heart and so enjoys doing this for others.
***On a side note. I would love to include photos but may not be able to for a bit. It seems as though trying to switch to a new theme has caused all kinds of problems and one of them is that I am suddenly unable to upload to my blog. Please bear with me, I hope to have things running more smoothly soon.***
