Rules for Living
I found this list of rules, of which I added one or two, in my Lists to Live by book. Of course, in true Heidi style, I have also added my little side bars that relate to things in my life! I think if we followed these rules, not only would our homes be cleaner and happier, but so would our world!
RULES FOR LIVING
If you open it, close it. (like the cereal boxes)
If you turn it on, turn it off. (bedroom lights)
If you unlock it, lock it up. (doors into the garage)
If you break it, admit it. (siblings toys)
If you can’t fix it, call someone who can. (like a mechanic)
If you borrow it, return it. (library book, scissors from the bin)
If you value it, take care of it. (the ipod that is magically missing all the time)
If you make a mess, clean it up. (various craft projects, toys)
If you move it, put it back. (couch pillows, cushions, pillows)
If it belongs to someone else and you want to use it, get permission.
(like when Ava is screaming because you took something of hers)
If you don’t know how to operate it, leave it alone.
If it’s none of your business, don’t ask questions. (my phone conversations)
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
If it will brighten someone’s day, say it. (I love you, good job)
If it will tarnish someone’s reputation, keep it to yourself.
If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all!
