Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ August 10th, 2010
FOR TODAY:
August 10, 2010…
Outside my window…it is very dark. I am typing up most of this on Monday night in preparation for it to go up on Tuesday. Tuesday is looking to be busy so I thought I would get a jump start on the day!
I am thankful for…the fact that Jayden’s injury was not worse. Over the weekend he was coming down a rock climbing wall, his foot slipped and he twisted around while holding on to the support chain. This made his head smack into one of the “rocks”. A lot of blood, and 2 staples later he is a new man.
From the learning rooms…we are easing back in to a routine starting this week. The kids are bemoaning the start of morning academia, but like that choice better than the alternative (heading off to public school).
From the kitchen…tacos, tacos, tacos. $300 later and our refrigerator is fixed, therefore we have a healthy supply of good food to eat!!
I am wearing…I hate this one. I think I am going to officially take it off of this. I am even sick of hearing the same answer to this trivial question!
I am creating…a time line. I think I may have said that last week though. The walls in the homeschool room are bare in preparation for this time line that I plan to put up and keep up for a few years. It is an extended history project in which I figured we could add dates to as we learn them, even if it is not specifically a history lesson that prompts the new addition!
I am going…to take Jayden to the dentist today. He has two cavities in permanent teeth that are getting filled today. Then we are meeting friends at the Zoo for the afternoon.
I am reading…or better put, still reading, What did I do Wrong? by Liz Pryor. Look forward to my book review in the next 2 weeks.
I am hearing…the fish tank bubbling. I am sitting at the desk in the homeschool room. This is new for me. I typically perch upstairs in my bedroom on my laptop. I find that the kids (Jayden and Ava, collectively known as “JAva”, which they both hate) get less out of hand if I stay in the room. Thus I think computer R1 (we have 3 here so they are labeled with names to match up speakers, monitors, cases, wires etc) will be my new “home base” for all things computer related. At the very least, I am going to try it and see how it goes.
A few plans for the rest of the week: helping Shana settle in to her new home, get Jayden’s staples removed from his head, camping with Shana and Dave, story time with Mr. Mike
Here is the picture for thought I am sharing…

Jayden Man certainly was a fantastic trooper with everything surrounding his head injury!!
Having the time line around your home school room will be an awesome visual and reminder of where you have taken your children in history.

I can’t even tell you how excited I am to our camping excursion this weekend! The kids will have so much fun and you and I will be able to do a lot of catching up! This move has really cramped my style but I THANK YOU for all your help in making me feel more settled (mentally AND physically!)
