Weekly Wrap-Up ~ Birds of a Feather, River Walk
Monday: Today was a busy, busy, stay at home and work done day. This week and next are short due to activities out of the house and our 4 day camping weekend so we have to take advantage of the few full days we are home.
Tuesday: We started Tuesday with a trip to the Rochester Museum and Science Center for a Docent Led Tour of the Native American exhibits. Since I had Ava in tow I was not able to participate in the tour with Chloe and Jayden. They had lots to say about how the Native Americans built their “homes” and hunted for food. Meanwhile, Ava was thrilled to dig for dinosaur bones. According to her she found, “the longest dinosaur bone ever!”.
Wednesday:
We enjoyed storytime with Mr. Mike this week. He read us a book called Three Little Kittens by Jerry Pinkney. It follows along the lines of the Mother Goose rhyme that goes: “Three Little Kittens have lost their mittens so they shall have no pie”. The illustrations in this book are very well done.
Beyond that, Ava found a book called Pumpkin Jack by Will Hubbell that I cannot say enough good things about! It is a well told story that goes through the stages of a pumpkin from carving to rotting to seeds, vine, flowers, new pumpkins and carving again. I plan on adding this one to our personal collection.
Thursday: Today was a rare day of me having to be in 2 places at once. I had signed Ava up for a zoo class called “Birds of a Feather” and then found a Middle School Life Science Lab series through the U of R for Chloe that started at the same time as the zoo class. Jayden, Ava and I headed off to the zoo while Chloe headed off to work with Daddy so he could take her to the lab. At the zoo we met a parrot named Sprite that Jayden was enthralled with. The parrot would say “Hi Sprite” whenever you put your face near him!
Friday: We ended up canceling our camping trip due to Chloe and Daddy being so coughy. We still have a very full weekend of activities in store for us though. This afternoon we took a walk over the bridge on the Genesee River Walking Trail. It was beautiful sunny skies and clean crisp air for all of us today!
