Weekly Wrap-Up ~ Tire Swings & Sunflowers
Monday: Memorial Day: We attended our local Memorial Day parade. Every year we head to a friend’s house who is on the parade route and join in the festivities. There is always someone selling patriot goodies where the proceeds go to the local veterans. Of course we bought the small flags for our kids to wave during the parade!
Tuesday:Today was a little unusual because we had music lessons. Since Monday was a holiday we moved them to today. Only there was a mix up and their teacher did not show up! We did however get to spend the 35 minute wait out in the sunshine in his backyard on the tire swing! Chloe decided it would make a great photo shoot (too bad I only had the little camera) and kept posing them for pictures!
Wednesday:Seeing as even Ava appears to be done with storytime, we decided to stop doing it. Plus with the weather getting nicer we want to spend as much time outside as possible. So this afternoon we headed to this little private section of beach that is 2 miles from our home. We spent 2 1/2 hours soaking up the sun, playing in the sand, and dipping in the freezing cold water every now and then.
Thursday:We headed to a local nursing home with Ava’s Daisy Troop today. Back in April we planted sunflower seeds in pots that the girls have been taking care of. Now that they are more developed we went to plant them in the garden at the nursing home for the residents to enjoy. The girls also had a chance to hand out some colorful paper flowers that they had made to the residents there. We were so blessed to have the sun out for this event.
Friday: Today will be a day of yard work. As I scurry to finish this post I have a list of things that we will be doing outside since my hubby took they day off to play catch up. With all the rain we have had our garden is still not completely together and our yard is turning into the Amazon!
Summary This has been a week of mostly failed attempts at much of our projects we had planned. Our color printer first ran out of ink, then after getting new ink it started printing with strange lines and needed to be cleaned. Then one of the kids’ computers died due to a hard drive dying! Despite that we have managed to continue with our garden unit study from Amanda Bennett that we are loving so much. Most of our official work will be finishing up next week. Then we will move into a looser, more free to explore and unit study based learning for the summer.

Bummer on all of the computer issues. I’ve been there. Recently with the printer. But the rest of the week sounded great.
