Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ March 2, 2010
FOR TODAY:
March 2, 2010…
Outside my window…the world seems still and quiet. Quite a contrast to my miserable 3 year old who is screaming at her brother not to make her toast!
I am thinking…I don’t feel that well and would love to curl back up in bed and have my inside world be as quiet as the world outside seems to be right now.
I am thankful for…the many times when my children are happy because they make the times like this when everything seems to be going wrong, seem more bearable.
From the learning rooms…we are beginning a new activity this week. I am going back again to my “bible” of homeschooling (The Well-Trained Mind-A Guide to Classical Education at Home). I often refer to this book because it reflects so many of my thoughts as to how I want to home school my children. We are beginning narration exercises after reading sections from the book Tales from Ancient Egypt. Yesterday was Ra, the God of the sun, and today we will be reading about the sibling/spouses, Isis and Osiris.
From the kitchen…Ava is screaming for mini muffins.
I am wearing…the same clothes I wore yesterday and slept in last night. I think it is time for a shower and some new clothes!
I am creating…5″ x 5′ Lap Blanket project . Although it looks as though we will be nearing the end of this project soon. Our day to come together and join our squares into a blanket is fast approaching near the end of March.
I am going…to be ordering the carpeting for our basement/family room this week. I am very excited to see that space come to its completion.
I am reading…Gone with the Wind, of course!
I am hoping…that when we go to Florida in April that the weather will be MUCH warmer than it has been! We have enjoyed multiple trips there with the kids and since it has been 4 years we are really looking forward to this trip!
I am hearing…Ava screaming, did I mention that already? Yes, she is miserable this morning. Her voice seems very raspy as though she might be getting a cold.
Around the house…all the rooms feel cluttered to me. Since we had to clear out the space in the basement to drywall it and then carpet it, all the other rooms had to absorb the extra furniture, toys and clutter. I hate this part of the process and can’t wait for it to be done!
One of my favorite things…sleeping in and waking up to a quiet house, does that even exist?
A few plans for the rest of the week: our biggest plan is to start dry walling the last wall and the ceiling in our basement/family room. The goal is to have it done and carpet installed in 4 weeks.
Here is the picture for thought I am sharing…

Children are a blessing but we all have bad days. Children have bad days too. I’m thankful the good days are more often than the bad ones. I’m thankful for devoted mothers like you who are willing to go the extra mile and home school their children. Doylene
