The Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ June 1st, 2010
FOR TODAY:
Tuesday June 1st, 2010…
Outside my window…for the first time in many days it is dreary out. After so many beautiful days of sunshine it is raining outside this morning.
I am thinking…about the end of the school year coming close. Although we are year round homeschoolers, for the summer we are done with any curriculums and into what we call “workbook” mode. That means when the mood suits and we are doing nothing else we pull out a math or language arts workbook and refresh our skills. Other than that summer classes, pool time and life learning fills our days.
I am thankful for…all the veggie plants we were able to grow in our bay window. Now the baby plants our out in the garden to withstand the animals and weather they will encounter out there. I think though that they will see less animals as they are all being fed by our many bird feeders this year.
From the learning rooms…we are making a cloud poster today. The kids have been looking at, trying to identify, and talking about the clouds in the sky over the past couple of weeks as we have been outside more and more. Seeing as we have nothing but cloudy skies today, why not?
From the kitchen…is a very good question. We did our meal planning for the week but I am not sure what is on the list for today because I have not ventured downstairs to check.
I am wearing…half clothes, half pajamas. Today, after a very busy holiday weekend, we are home to do school work and chill out. I am not sure how long, maybe all day that I will stay in this half and half mode!
I am creating…5″ x 5′ Lap Blanket project which will get stitched together this week. Then I will have to find something new to create.
I am going…to try to finish getting the camper ready for the season. It seems as though I have been unmotivated in this area. I want to camp, but it seems like so much work to prepare the camper!
I am reading…13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It is a must read for teens and parents alike. Look for my book review of it in the coming weeks.
I am hoping…to get all of our bird photos cropped, labeled and printed so we can work on our birding notebooks later this week. Were are learning about basic birding techniques and discovering what birds are coming to our feeders. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is a great resource for novice bird watchers like myself.
I am hearing…Ava pouting in her room because I sent her there. Jayden and Ava can’t manage to not irritate each other in the morning, or in the afternoon or evening for that matter! They are either two peas in a pod or sand in your Quote for todayA mere friend will agree with you, but a real friend will argue.
bathing suit! 🙂
Around the house…things are in relative order. Joey worked hard over the weekend to help me get things into order. Now I need to start putting away this years school stuff and organizing the homeschool room so it will be ready for yet another year.
One quote for today..A mere friend will agree with you, but a real friend will argue.
A few plans for the rest of the week: it is a quieter week due to Monday being a holiday. We have Ava’s end of year preschool picnic, our Lap Blanket stitching circle, our usual taxi service and Walk n Talk with Shana.
Here is the picture for thought I am sharing…
