Spanish Language App for Kids
Statistics show that it’s easier to learn a language when you are young. And our young kids live in a digital era. So why not teach them a second language at an early age with a Spanish Language App for Kids?
FabuLingua Spanish Language App for Kids
FabuLingua is a Spanish Language App for Kids that teaches through fun, interactive stories.
{I received the FabuLingua App for free and was compensated for my time in writing this review. However these are my honest opinions and I was not required to post a positive review. Please see my full Disclosure Policy for more details.}
There is so much to love about this Spanish Language App!
Let me just tell you a few of the things we LOVE about FabuLingua:
- gorgeous illustrations
- interactive stories
- speak and record options
- games to help reinforce terms
FabuLingua is a one stop shop for kids to engage with the Spanish language! It makes for a great story time activity or independent play time activity. Plus you could even make bed time stories together a fun learning experience for both of you!
Getting Started with FabuLingua
Once you have FabuLingua downloaded to your device, Fabulingua opens with the story map you see below.
There is no particular order in which you have to do the stories. Just have your child click on one and you are ready to go!
¿Qué Quieres Hacer?
(What do you want to do?)
This is the question every story begins with. When you first begin the only option is Magical Translations. Once you have gone through the story once this way, other options unlock!
The options within each story are:
1. Magical Translations
Magical Translations is how you begin interacting with each story. The words appear on the top of the screen and short sections are read first in Spanish, then in English. Once all words have been read on page your child can then interact with what’s on the screen.
One of our favorite stories was Grandpa’s Farm. The colors are so rich and what kid doesn’t love animals!
In the video below you can see a short interaction with the story. You’ll see how you can click on all the words and images to have words repeated and objects move.
2. Spanish Only
With this option the story is told only using Spanish.
3. Games
There are two games for each story:
- Matching Game – where kids match characters and objects from the story by dragging the picture to the correct word circle.
- Articles Game – you have two articles at the bottom of the screen and you have to drag the falling words to the correct articles.
4. CopyCat
In this option your child will go through the story and have the opportunity to record their voice reading it!
The narrator will first read a section (like in the Magical Translations section), then a button will appear to allow your child to record their voice saying the same thing. Once recorded they can play back to hear themselves and compare to the narrator.
5. Read by Myself
Once the Copy Cat for a story is complete your child will unlock this option which allows them to read and record the entire book with just their voice.
