Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ March 22nd, 2011
FOR TODAY:
March 22nd, 2011…
Outside my window…it is a dreary, dreary day. Yesterday was the same. Not sure if the weather, or the gloom in our house is worse. Ava has been sick since Saturday and it is dragging all our moods down (except maybe Jayden).
I am thinking…that I can’t wait to head off to sunny Florida soon. A little sun and R&R is much needed by all!
I am thankful for…the fact that Ava only threw up on Saturday. She is still not eating and hardly drinking though. Not sure how much longer I can let it go on.
From the learning rooms…to see what is going on in our “Homeschool Room” check out all my Hip Homeschool Hop posts.
From the kitchen…After not meal planning for the first time in years last week, I am happy to have a plan up on the refrigerator this week! Even though I drag my feet to make the shopping list and meal plan each week, I am always grateful to have it during the week. Not only do the kids really like knowing what to expect for dinner, but during the chaos of the week having everything planned, bought, thawed and ready to go makes my life so much easier!
I am creating…5×5″ squares for our Lap Blanket Project. I will be doing this for another week and then we gather together to sew our squares together.
I am going…to get my hair cut and colored today. It is much overdue.
I am reading…The DMZ by Jeanette Windle. Last week I had 3 other books in this list to choose from but they are all library books that I have been sitting on my shelf for almost 6 weeks. Amidst getting other tasks accomplished, the one major thing I have neglected is my reading. Thus the library books must go back, and The DMZ which I received from the publisher is up on my list of things to read. Hopefully I can plod along and have it read in a reasonable amount of time!
I am hoping…that Ava Grace will feel better soon.
I am hearing…The dull roar of the television from the living room where Ava has been camped out since Saturday. Seeing her so sleepy, and devoid of life makes my heart sink. I know this is only temporary, but I hate seeing her like this. 🙁
Around the house…things are pretty clean. This week we started a new chore chart for the older two. On top of their weekly assignment sheet on their clipboards is now a chore chart. One of the things on it is clean their rooms in the A.M. and clean 1 room (any room) in the P.M. Then they each have a vacuuming job each day. Hopefully this will help to keep things more in order. If their chores are not done and marked at the end of the day then they lose out on things like snacks, tv time, stay up later time, ipods, etc.
Quote for the week…Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.
A few plans for the rest of the week:Seeing as we have an under the weather child here, my week is slowly quieting down. I am however getting my hair done today, and taking the truck in for service tomorrow, and playing taxi for Chloe. We may miss out on Storytime and Mall lunch with Poppy and Gommy tomorrow, as well as Ice Skating and Daisy Girl Scouts on Thursday if Ava is not feeling better. 🙁
Here is the picture for thought I am sharing…
This was taken on Saturday. She is no longer sporting the bucket but is still in the same spot, sporting the same sad face.

We moms can relate that it is never easy to see your child be sick. But praise God what Ava has is not serious and as the saying goes, “this too shall pass”.

I’m sorry to hear your little one is sick! No fun! I hope she feels better soon! I know what you mean about how nice it is to have meals planned out for each week-it does make the hectic weeks a little less chaotic! Thanks for linking up to NOBH! I’ve enjoyed reading your posts!
