Discover! Curriculum for Grades K-6
Discover! Curriculum offers a blended learning experience (both digital and printed knitted together) for kids in grades 1-6. Discover! Curriculum uses Curriculum Express as their online curriculum provider. When you look to purchase Discover! you will be redirected to Curriculum Express’ website.
The subjects offered are:
- Science
- Social Studies – explores topics in geography, culture, history, and community
- English – all-inclusive and covers reading, spelling, vocabulary, writing and literature
- Math
Discover! Online is powered by Bridgeway Academy. Kids start each day online where fun characters guide them through what to do each day.
Features of Discover! Curriculum You’ll Want to Know About
1. It is designed to be easy for homeschoolers to use
Discover! Curriculum is self-paced, meaning that you as the parent, along with your child get to decide how fast or slow you move through the curriculum. It makes it easy to take breaks, slow down, or speed up as needed.
The included Instructor Guide provides guidance and support for homeschooling parents. They include things like Learning Objectives, Extension Activities and Answer Keys.
Detailed Progress Reports in the online platform make it so easy for parents to see where their kids are at in the program and how well they are doing. It contains grades for Lesson Quizzes, Chapter Tests, and Learning Activities.
My thoughts: I know as a busy homeschool mom, homeschooling multiple children, I don’t have a ton of spare time. Having a program that is well thought out and basically runs itself is a must have! This Discover! Curriculum is easy to follow. The online platform keeps track of your child’s progress within the program, as well as immediate auto-grading of activities completed online.
2. Print & Digital Combined
Discover Curriculum! is the best of both worlds! It uses an online platform with Bridgeway Academy as well as full color workbooks.
The workbooks are designed for students to be able to actively write, reflect, and practice what they are learning. And the online-learning environment offers a more interactive experience with interactive activities as well as real time progress tracking and grading.
My thoughts: I love that this curriculum isn’t just a workbook and digital content. Instead they are integrated together so they work more seamlessly together. Within the online portion it tells you when and what workbook activities to complete and includes those tasks in their tracking. So students do the workbook and then check it off online so it registers as completed within the program.
3. Extension Activities
Not only are there Extension Activity ideas within the Teacher’s Guide, but there are also Extension Activities provided through Elephango. These options offers kids rich hands-on experiences in addition to their online and workbook experiences.
My thoughts: I love that extension activities are included, especially hands-on activities! Taking what kids are learning online and via workbook, and using that knowledge to complete hands-on activities is not only a great way to help cement their learning in their minds, but it’s also SO MUCH FUN!
4. Faith Connections Available
Discover! Faith Connections are an option addition to your kids’ online learning Experience. They are designed to help deepen their faith and approach every subject through a Christian lens.
My thoughts: While we don’t use Faith Based Curriculum, I like that Discover! Curriculum offers this as an option!
