Flashback Friday – “Project Day”
We have been in our new house almost 2 years now. One of the things we love most is that there has been a minuscule amount of home improvement jobs to be done here. At our old house not only were there always projects to be done, but they were always big ones! From sanding and painting every window and door frame 4 times to cover up the chocolate brown, to double wallpapering the living room as a disguise for the paneling, to completely gutting and redoing the kitchen. We also put a 6 foot high wood privacy fence around the back yard, created a room in the upstairs, painted the outside of the house 4 times, etc, etc. On top of the many things we did ourselves, we also had the bathroom gutted and redone, had the roof torn off to the rafters and redone, and had a new sidewalk put in. It was always a MAJOR project!
Moving in here meant 2 major projects for us: the kitchen that we gutted and redid, and the basement that we are working on finishing off this winter. Today was one of the days that we chose to tackle some “little” projects. None of our bedrooms had ceiling fixtures, nor did our bathroom. Last winter we did ours, Chloe’s, and Ava’s. Today, Joey crawled back into the crawl space and teetered around on the beams to add a light fixture in Jayden’s room and one in the bathroom. It doesn’t seem like much work but doing that and getting Ava’s new “big girl” bed set up took the entire day!
