Knowre Online Math: Help for High School Math
I have a long standing, not always positive relationship with homeschooling math. This isn’t because I dislike it or am not good at it, but more because each of my children are so different and have needed different things at various points throughout our years of homeschooling.
I used Singapore Math with all my children through the elementary years, but switch to Teaching Textbooks when they get older. This came about when my oldest daughter began to struggle in 6th/7th grade and I began looking at other math options.
Even though math is a subject that comes easily to my son, to him it is still “school work”. He is high energy and likes to be engaged as such. Thus video games grab and keep his attention more than other things. I mention this because when I choose curriculum or programs for him I need to keep this in mind. Having him drudge through math worksheet after math worksheet or giving him manipulatives to work with would only bore him to insanity. Therefore finding a high school online math resource that would be fun and engaging for him was a SUPER SCORE in this homeschool mom’s book!

Benefits of Knowre High School Online Math
1. It’s For High Schoolers!
Knowre covers math levels for older kids, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.
2. Provides Access to All Levels
Your one year subscription gets you access to all levels! This is such a bonus feature because that means you pay one price and your child can move up and down as needed. They can even be working in multiple levels at the same time!
My son likes the fact that you can “buy in” to upper level lessons with the coins you earn from working your way through the program. You can see above that he was in Lesson 1.4 but if you click on the locks throughout the map, you have the option to use your earned coins to open other levels. This works great for a kid who has specific things they want to work on, or things they like doing. Since my son has completed Algebra I in his homeschool curriculum already he knows many of the concepts and likes to jump around a little.
3. Walk Me Through Feature
The Walk Me Through Feature takes kids step by step through problems they are struggling with. This feature offers feedback at each step, allowing the student to work through the problems with help. It’s like having a tutor built in! Plus as it walks you through you have the option to select, “I can solve it now!” and you can exit to the problem to complete it on your own.
4. Progress Reports
Since kids aren’t always forthcoming with their progress, especially teens, having access to progress reports is awesome! You simply log in to your student’s account, for the app you need to be on the main page where it shows the square boxes for each level, click on the level you want to see and the progress report shows up.
5. Online or On The Go
Knowre has both online and app options. My son really loved being able to do this from the comfort of his favorite cozy spots instead of sitting at the computer desk! {He also wanted me to note that he felt the app version felt more fluid and looked better than working online. I think that’s just the teenager in him!}
Another cool feature of the app is that you can write, instead of type the answers and scratch work if you want to.
6. Practice Problems & Real-Life Applications
Knowre goes beyond the basic practice questions. Yes, they include them, but they take it one step further by using real-life examples. I don’t know about you, but my teen wants to know why? When would he use that? Having real life problems to work through allows the student to see how that skill can be beneficial to them.

I really like this as a fun way for older kids to work on their math skills. There are lots of game style math programs for younger kids so it’s nice that this is for upper level math.
