Lap Robe Project Completion
As many of you know, Chloe and I have spent a good amount of the last 6 months or so knitting 5 x 5in. squares for a community lap robe project. One of our fellow homeschooling friends rallied a bunch of us together to make these lap robes that were to be collected and displayed at the Monroe County Fair this weekend, and then given to Rochester General Hospital for their patients.
As a larger homeschooling group we completed 2 blankets. We were told not to expect to see them easily as they lay them over the stadium railing at the Dome. It turns out that they chose 10 or so of what they felt were the most interesting robes (really small blankets, not sure why they call them robes) to display on dividers down on the floor. Both of the blankets we made were put on display down on the floor! It was so totally cool to see them displayed up close for people to see, even if they would not know who had done them.
When I spoke to one of the ladies at the booth about it, she told me that the blanket we made with the attached crochet flowers on it, was one of 3 used in the presentation and photo/news op with representative from Rochester General Hospital! It was very exciting for Chloe to see how widespread this community project was, and to know that she was a part of it. I have yet to see any press photo or anything about the presentation, but I keep checking the internet to see if something pops up. If anyone sees anything, please let me know.

Thanks for this post and photos. I agree that it’s so cool for the girls to see how their contribution matters. Thanks for being part of it.
