May 3 in 30 ~ Week 2
Goal One: Focus more on what I am thankful for. Take time to be grateful instead of griping
The one piece of this goal that I can’t seem to get on board with is the calendar. I did print one, but have yet to fill it in. We really enjoy doing the “Thankful Game” at the dinner table. The kids ask to do it even when we are with other people at the dinner table and we have everyone participate.
Goal Two: Keep the amount of dirty dishes down to a minimum.
The dirty dishes seem to be under control. The rule of keeping the sink empty has been a big help. I have to keep reminding the kids, but they follow through and do it when reminded. For me, the guilt of leaving something in there given my goal of not doing that, is enough to make me clean the dish before I walk away!
Goal Three: I want to have cleaner floor/carpets in the house.
The kids have been keeping up with their end of this for the most part. Our vacuum was a little on the weak side due to a totally full bag. We were delayed in ordering the bags for it, but they arrived yesterday so we should be good to go again. The problem in this goal is me. You would think it wouldn’t be so tough to give the hardwoods a good cleaning once a week, but I am struggling with this. I am not sure where I can change this or find a way to make it easier for me to do. Maybe I will spend this week really searching for a way to make this goal more attainable.

Daughter, I say this as much to myself as I say it to you; as we set goals or have trials to meet and strive to achieve them, it takes a lot of perseverance. I know from God’s Word that when we persevere we complete the work becoming mature, complete, not lacking anything. So I pray for both of us that we will persevere in whatever the Lord has for us in this life. I am striving to look forward with a positive outlook.
