Online Classical Education: A Helpful Homeschool Option
Classical education is where I first started falling in love with homeschooling. Classical education is based on a three-part process of training the mind. From the early Grammar years where kids learn the basic building blocks of each subject, through the middle Logic Stage, and then to the final Rhetoric Stage in high school where kids learn to write and speak with originality. It is language focused, with an emphasis on timeline based history, memorization, and solid whole literature.

Wilson Hill Academy is very proud of their teachers. Their teachers think deeply about their subjects from a Christian worldview and are excited to challenge their students to do the same.
“Wilson Hill Academy believes that gifted, enthusiastic teachers who can bring their subjects alive are the key to successfully delivering a classical Christian education, whether online or in a classroom. At WHA, we seek to engage “Master Teachers”, who have degrees in their field, giving preference to those with advanced degrees. These Master Teachers are awarded ownership shares in Wilson Hill Academy as a component of their compensation, further recognizing the essential role they play in the educational process.”

I would not recommend this school. Unless you have an exceptionally bright child who enjoys studying for hours OR you have time to go to school with the student and spend a ton of time hoover and helping .. well, I’d look elsewhere. I indicated early on that my student wasn’t succeeding in their environment. They offered a conversation with my student and “praying for him.” By the end of the first semester when he wasn’t passing and had fallen into a deep depression (which was NEVER the case in public school), I told Wilson Hill I need to withdraw. They politely said “no problem, no refund” good luck.” Interesting how they make you pay for the whole year up front. Huge mistake. Lesson learned. But anyway, proceed here with caution. I’m not a fan.
