Affordable Online College Courses with Ed4Credit
We are knee deep in our second round of Homeschooling High School. There is lots of talk and focus on earning college credit in high school as well as the path to college and beyond. There are many ways to accomplish earning college credit: from AP courses to CLEP Exams, attending the local community college, and online college courses too!
While we have already walked this path once, there are things we are doing differently this time around! For instance we are purposely graduating our son a year early from homeschooling after realizing with our first how easy it was to do that while still fulfilling all the NYS Homeschooling Regulations. Another thing we are doing is that since our son wanted to do ASL for his foreign language in high school (and our daughter had taken it in college already), we decided to have him take it at the local community college – earning both high school and college credit for it during his sophomore year in high school.
Ways We Have Earned College Credit
- AP Courses/Exams – My oldest took the English Language & Composition exam, however we did not find this route to be time and effort effective and did not continue down this path with any other AP Exams.
- CLEP Exams – Not only did my oldest take some CLEP Exams but my son recently passed his US History I (earning him 3 college credits) and has plans to take a few more.
- Local Community College – My daughter is graduating from our local community college after only 3 full time semesters due to her dual enrollment and CLEP credits. Having prior credits also made it possible for her to take a lighter load each semester with only 12-15 credits instead of 17-18 each semester. Our son is currently taking one course with plans to take a few more before going full time. Although he is looking for ways to earn college credit in more time and cost effective ways.
Ed4Credit Online College Courses
While we have talked about doing courses online, and my daughter has taken a couple through our local community college, I hadn’t given it much thought for our son. It’s hard to pay the same for an online class that you would a physical class! Especially when some kids really need to be in class to keep them on-track and motivated!
If you have a kid suited to online learning then Ed4Credit might just be a real consideration for you! Not only can your kids take them in high school (thus fulfilling their high school credits) but they can also earn college credit for a fraction of the cost of attending college! {This post has been sponsored by Ed4Credit. However all opinions are my own.}
Ed4Credit has everything you need for each course in one place. They include the textbook (eTextbook), the review materials from Quizlet, tests, and supplemental materials like Power Points and external videos.

Ed4Credit has all their learning materials and directions in one place. For instance, in the image below is a screen shot of the first module of Sociology 101. As you can see there is an overview of what is covered, a list of things you need to do, and all the materials (linked) you will need!
