A Look Inside A College Prep Science Self Paced Course
About Greg Landry
Greg Landry teaches these courses himself. Greg is a homeschool dad and former college professor. Greg has spent the past 20+ years teaching science.
He taught at a university, taught thousands of homeschooled students, has mentored students planning to pursue science / pre-med degrees, has designed and directed a university anatomy and physiology / biology / cadaver lab, has published and presented scientific research, has academically counseled hundreds of college pre-professional (pre-med, pre-dental, pre-physical therapy, etc.) sophomores and juniors, has designed science labs for homeschooled students, and has written science lab manuals.
Young Scientist Anatomy & Physiology covers scientific method, overview of human anatomy and physiology and these systems: skeletal, muscular, circulatory – heart, blood, veins, arteries, digestive, and respiratory. Reproductive system is not covered.
Can I just say that I LOVE what is done in the beginning of this course?
Chapter 1 has a whole section on Note-Taking & Test Preparation!
Greg Landry developed a method for note taking and learning information called NSSR.
NSSR refers to:
Notes – Writing down important details while listening to the teacher.
Sketches – Done after class with colored pencils, helping you remember words, concepts, structures, etc.
Summary – A synopsis of your notes done and reviewed after class ends.
Retrieval – This can happen various ways such as: having someone ask you questions, create and use flashcards, teach someone about the subject, and sketching details from memory.
The Course Itself
As you can see in the screenshot below, you can not only see/hear Greg, but he has interactive images on the left where he draws on the diagrams as he talks, as well as a chat box to the right where he types key points.
As part of his NSSR Method he provides note taking sheets you can print out for each class. This makes it easy for students to learn and use his method and apply it to each class they attend.
The other components are the black and white diagrams to fill out (also included are highly colorful diagrams to use as a reference) and the worksheets to accompany each chapter. I recommend getting a 3 ring binder to keep all their course material in!

NOTE: It is important to note that these are Christ-Centered classes. Greg prays at the beginning of each class and the Christian faith and principles are at the forefront.
