The Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ August 17th, 2010
FOR TODAY:
August 17th, 2010…
Outside my window…the sun is shining (again)! It must be a record for NY to have had so much wonderful weather this summer!
I am thankful for…the wonderful weekend we had camping/boating with our friends Shana and Dave and their 2 boys. I managed to drive the camper there and set it up all by myself because Joey had to stay at work on Friday. Now he is going to expect that I can do it more often since he knows I am more than capable of doing it myself!
From the learning rooms…our homeschool room timeline is still a work in progress. All the pieces are cut to length now. We have two 6 foot pieces and two 11 foot pieces. Our next step is to measure out a uniform distance for each 100 year segment, and add color dividing lines for different events in history.
From the kitchen…we came home on Sunday to yet another round of a defrosted freezer and the loss of tons more food. It seems Chloe and I somehow managed to leave the garage freezer open when we got the ice out for the cooler. Not sure what it is with us and refrigerator/freezers these days but it is getting so commonplace that we don’t even seem to flinch anymore.
I am creating…along with Joey, a custom set of bookshelves for the homeschool room. We are filling in an L-shaped space with floor to ceiling shelves so that I can have all of our reference books, picture books, biographies, etc. together in one place. The type-A in me is so excited!
I am reading…and hopefully finishing before this Friday’s book discussion, What did I do Wrong? by Liz Pryor. I have about 40 pages left, I think. I also started Janet Evanovich’s first Stephanie Plum novel, One for the Money. I have read one of them, not sure which one, and enjoyed it. Now I figured I would start with number one and slowly work my way through all of them
I am hoping…to get more of our bookshelves secured so I can fill them! I have PILES of books that I have lugged to the homeschool room from all over the house. I am so excited to have the shelves for all of our books to have a home together.
I am hearing…the kids bickering. It has been an all day event today. Kind of tired of it.
Around the house…we I, have big plans to do some “Spring Cleaning” before our official school year gets into full swing. I would like to clear out our closets, (especially mine because many of my clothes do not fit now that I have lost enough weight). Then I would like to clear out the kids closets and evaluate what we have for clothes and what we need. Along with all of this we are going to reevaluate our book shelves to put all the books we want easily accessible, and together on our new shelves in the homeschool room.
One quote for the week…
Books to the ceiling,
Books to the sky,
My pile of books is a mile high.
How I love them! How I need them!
I’ll have a long beard by the time I read them.
A few plans for the rest of the week: Hopefully Walk n Talk for the first time in weeks, story time with Mr. Mike at Barnes and Noble, Chloe has a clay class and gymnastics, Jayden has 3 nights of football practice, and we are shooting for a few days of R & R at home.
Here is the picture for thought I am sharing…
