Weekly Wrap-up ~ Dr. Suess & Water Displacement
Monday: Today was our busy work day of the week. We diligently worked most of the day on our “bookwork”. To my surprise we stumbled upon two unexpected lessons. The kids asked me to read to them during lunch so I picked out Aesop’s Fables. This led to a discussion about the lessons, or morals in stories. Then from The Crow and the Pitcher we got into a discussion and impromptu science demonstration about water displacement. Exactly how did putting pebbles in the vase make the water level rise up so the crow could drink? Check my upcoming post and I will tell you!
Wednesday: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. SEUSS!! To celebrate Mr. Mike read Green Eggs and Ham at storytime. Ava is my only child of three who LOVES Dr. Seuss. She has the books in her bed, she plays Dr. Seuss’s preschool on the computer, we have the Dr. Seuss pack for her Tag Reader, and I now have The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham story books on my iPad and iPhone so we have them everywhere!
Thursday: Today is a day of math corrections for Chloe. She has hit the middle of her text which is a series of reviews. This is always painful for her as some of the processes seem to leave her brain. She spends all of her energy complaining about how much she hates math instead of putting that energy into thinking about the problems she is working on.
On a lighter note for her, she started her fleece blanket this week. We bought 2 yards of gymnast fabric and 2 yards of teal blue fabric. We cut each of them into 4 squares and she is stitching 2 gymnast and 2 teal blue squares together with hot pink yarn. Once both pieces are done she will lay them on top of each other and do a standard knot blanket.
Friday: Zoo Class. We all look forward to zoo class. This month it was all about animal disguises. Besides the up close and personal meet and greet with an armadillo named Doug, the highlight of this class was the craft. The cool animal print hats and animal print fabric to make your disguise! Ava picked the zebra print to go along with the zebra headband she just happened to be wearing today!

Stopping in from Weekly Wrap-up! I read to the kids during lunchtime as well. Read Aloud books never seem to work at any other time of the day! We’re enjoying “Winnie-the-Pooh” right now.

Once again daughter you and the children experienced another week of new learning adventures along with fun activities. You and the children are so blessed with aIl the variety of things that are available outside of your home environment. I love Ava’s Zebra hat.
Chloe did a good job with her blanket and can be proud of her accomplishment.
