Weekly Wrap-Up ~ Some Beach
This week Chloe took the time to input her “schedule” into the calendar on her iPod and this is what it looks like!
Monday: Beach
Tuesday: Beach
Wednesday: Beach
Thursday: Disney
Friday: Beach
Now, I can (and will) add in a few more details for you, but that about sums it up! Each morning the kids are having an hour of quiet work time. Each child has their own binder of activities for them to do. Ava and I are working on basic addition and handwriting. Jayden and Chloe each have grade level Analogies workbooks, Dazzling Math Line Designs workbooks, and writing prompts for each day.
Monday: This is quiet reading time with Daddy. Ava has really enjoyed curling up at night and taking turns reading. He reads a story to her, and she reads a story to him.
Tuesday: Art class on the beach! Probably the best art class ever! This is Jayden helping carve a man out of the sand. We just happened to make friends with a family in which the dad was an art teacher! What luck!
Wednesday: A little family bonding! Along with a whole lot of phys ed! It is quite a work out to swim in the ocean!
Today in Chloe’s math she came across a new skill. She needed to subtract with negative numbers. Here are the rules we went over:
1. Subtracting a positive number from a negative number is like adding, but keeping the (-) for the answer.
For example: -2 – 10= -12
2. Subtracting a negative number is like adding
For example: 10 – -11= 21
3. Subtracting a negative from a negative turns into a plus positive
If x>y the answer is negative
If x=y the answer is 0
If x
Thursday: Today we safaried in the African jungle, traveled back in time to see the dinosaurs (Ava even brought back a Carnitaurous), saw multiple stage theater shows (Finding Nemo, The Lion King), met all 43 Presidents of the United States in the Hall of Presidents, rode to the top of Mt. Everest, and so much more!

What a fun schedule and pictures! That sand art is really cool and that’s neat you met an art teacher on the beach! That’s a beautiful family photo and since we live 10 min. from the east coast, I agree that going to the beach is phys. ed. because I know I’m worn out after each beach day 🙂 Thanks for sharing your fun week on NOBH! 🙂

Being at the beach is just another glorious reminder for me of the beauty, wonder, power, and variety of God’s creation. Just to mention a few: sunrise, sunset, stars, waves, tides, variety of seashells and ocean life.
Heidi, time away like this is such a blessing to spend and share with all of you.
